muddguts is excited to introduce you to the paintings of Ryan Mettz , debuting an impressive body of work in what will be his first solo show. Mettz is a world-renowned tattoo artist and his astute approach to design coupled with a purposeful command of his tools earned Ryan a spot on the short list of innovators within the community of contemporary traditional tattooing.

a life-long skateboarder with no formal painting training, Mettz paints the city he knows & loves... as he sees it... bringing his own aesthetic eye to his new practice, Mettz demonstrates, with the same purpose and impeccability, a remarkable command over his tools and an innovative and colorful approach to scenic city painting.

Mettz’ work conjures the historical methodologies of impressionism and post-impressionism. Paintings on found-wood depict instants of modern city life. This contemporary approach hyperbolizes the dereliction and claustrophobia of the city yet adds a sense of love and wonderment that invites the viewer to engage with warm familiarity.

This is Mettz first solo show.
